Position Description

Fire Sparrow is seeking a skilled and dedicated lead to run a crew performing landscape construction and maintenance work. The crew lead is responsible for following instructions, managing the crew safely and efficiently, and working hard to create and maintain high-quality outdoor living spaces.

Responsibilities and Duties

Energetically perform landscape construction duties 8+ hours, five days per week. Duties include, but are not limited to:

• New garden installations
• Irrigation installations and maintenance
• Hardscape/masonry construction
• Carpentry
• Using hand/power tools
• Plant and garden assessments and maintenance (pruning, weeding, mulching, etc.)

Clearly communicate with owner/project manager in respect to status of work/crew
Communicate honestly and respectfully with crew members, foremen, owner, other staff, and clients, as needed
Provide clear and appropriate direction to crew members in coordination with company owner
Ensure work site remains safe and productive at all times
Maintain standards for reasonable work site neatness and manage end-of-day clean-up

Experience and Qualifications

• High school or GED
• At least 2 years' experience in landscape construction, maintenance, or horticulture/gardening, with at least 1 year as a lead
• Working understanding of landscape construction methods and practices, including irrigation systems, patios/pavers installation, stacked walls, carpentry, basic horticulture, grading, and tool usage.
• Consistently positive attitude in strenuous working conditions
• Ability to oversee crews with focus on effective time-management and encouraging a positive, growth-minded team environment
• Intuition to see the big picture and make reasonable decisions independently, asking questions when needed
• Friendly and approachable demeanor with clients
• Reliable and honest
• Excellent communication skills in coordinating with clients, crew, owner/management,
• Able to repeatedly lift up to 80 lbs, traverse and work for long hours on uneven terrain, and spend significant time standing/walking
• Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle
• Able to speak, read, and write English
